I'm not going to lie, when I first picked up this book/novella, I had no idea what to expect. Really just wanted to dive deeper into the mythos that had been evolving since the first book in the Ukumog series. This one takes you to a different location, and gives you some new characters to add to the collection. I did learn this, though, this book could basically be read at any point in the series, but completely fits between the second and third book. BELIEVE ME you will want to read this before the third book (FLAYED) so that you can fully understand one hell of a twist.

This was a very entertaining and engaging read. I can't wait for more works set in the dark world this author has created.
I am no connoisseur of literature, but I know what I like. I enjoy the Ukumog series and this short story was a riveting glimpse into that world. It kept my attention and when it was over I wanted to know what happened next. In my mind that is what makes an excellent novel. Well done, Mr. Puster, I can't wait for the next installment of this interesting dark fantasy world.
